MTB and the swimming pool: the winning duo

Given its characteristic topography, there is no lack of opportunities for MTB'ing in the Haute-Savoie. A few good strategies for mixing sports with the exploration of an exceptional territory:

Vallée Verte:

Descent along the banks of the Menoge (about 3 hours) from Habère-Poche (plateau des Moises) to Saint André-de-Boëge. Shaded paths and very pleasant. Return by shuttle. MTB + helmet + shuttle: € 16 for adults, € 13 for children (below 11 years).

Chartreuse de Mélan and Carillon de Taninges

The Chartreuse de Mélan, founded in 1285 by Béatrix de Faucigny and inhabited by monks for five centuries, consists still today of a church, a cloister and a farm. A place with outstanding acoustics that facilitates the organization of religious, traditional or jazz concerts in the summer. Also to be seen are the contemporary art exhibitions and, surrounding the Chartreuse, the contemporary sculpture park (with free access all year round). As an anecdote, the place was used for the shooting of a scene in the film «Les Rivières Pourpes» (2000).

350 m de natation, 23km de vélo et 5 km de course à pied: cela s'appelle la «mini-série». Pour les encore plus costauds, c’est le «Tri vert» qui est recommandé avec quand même 500m de natation, 20km VTT avec le dénivelé que cela suppose et 5 km de course à pied. Quant aux enfants, les mensurations sont 50 à 200 m de natation, 2 à 5 km de vélo et 1.5 km de course à pied. A faire ou à voir !
