Passions and secrets of some creators
 Carouge is, and always was, a place of great creativity. In 1790 the city counted more than 450 craftsmen such as blacksmiths, cabinetmakers, ironmongers, coopers, linen maids and laundresses. Today, the linen maids and laundresses have put away their irons and have been replaced by bookbinders, glassblowers, weavers and watchmakers. The harmonious architecture of the city, the friendliness of its inhabitants and the convivial atmosphere have made this place an attractive heaven for local fashion designers, cinema animators, musicians, theatregoers and artists. Music festivals and seasonal craft markets are held throughout the year, but a simple stroll through Carouge is the equivalent of visiting the world of art.
