Carouge, following the architects’ footsteps: 15th September 2007

Print

ImageFrom the time that Carouge was built in the 18th century, it has not ceased to interest architects, a number of whom contributed directly to its growth and development. Who hides behind a house, a church, a fountain ? Who are those men who imagined Carouge and interpreted its soul ? Carouge has an eclectic history: part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, for a period even part of revolutionary France and later of the French Empire, before finally joining the Canton of Geneva. But despite the many changes, Carouge always stayed true to itself. By following the architects' footsteps, we discover the fascinating adventure of the «invention» of Carouge, as well as its evolution through the 20th century.
