The «Escalade» Run: 1st December 2007 |
|
The Genevans, they run, they run. As on every first Saturday of December, more than 20,000 runners will storm the Old City to complete, according to their choice, distances varying from 2 to 8 km. Just for the fun of it, most of them don fancy dress, with the day's trophy being a pot in honour of the Mère Royaume (Queen Mother) who, according to legend, poured a pot full of boiling soup over the heads of the Savoyards that came to conquer the city in 1602.
