Women of the World: the travelling exhibition is coming to Geneva Print
ImageIt's the story of a woman speaking about women. Claudia DeMonte, an American artist and trustee, created an exhibition that presents the woman of the world and how it reflects on her culture. She drafted this idea while in Tibet in 1996, and it expanded during other trips and encounters. In three and a half years, Claudia DeMonte collected 177 works from different countries and artists. A diversity that is also found in the chosen techniques of expression, which include local crafts, such as textile and carpet work, as well as drawings, photographs and collages.

No compulsory theme: Theoung Mim's work represents hope and joy mixed in with oppression and separation. A Cambodian national living in the United States, she evokes in her work her double personality; one that corresponds to her parents' expectations and the second which expresses her true self. So many calls of the heart from across the world since 2000. After New York, Chicago, Dallas, Tokyo and Boston, the exhibition is coming to Geneva for the first time. Open on Saturday, September 29, from 2-6pm and Tuesday, October 2, from 3-7pm at La Villa Saugy in Genthod.
