Recipes for happiness  Representing the 21st generation of wine-growers and cultivating 20 hectares of vines and 5 hectares of fruits in the heart of the Geneva countryside, Claire-Lise and Michel Desbaillet have backed their own taste by gambling on certain grape varieties scarcely favoured by others. Chasselas, for example.
They have been proved right for their Chasselas 2002 scooped the “Guide Hachette des Vins” award in 2004. Claire-Lise, the farm’s soul, greets the visitors who come to a tasting, organising evenings around a fondue in the cellars or in the enormous 10,000 litre barrel that holds a table for six. She concocts jams from the fruit of her own gardens and dainties that could (almost) make you forget the fine wines; syrups with a taste that haunts memories that she also sells in the market with a smile and a friendly word: happiness is contagious !
