Lyon celebrates the Light: 7-10.12

Print
ImageHistory traces the origins of the Festival Of Lights to the 8th of December 1852. Every year on this date, Lyon is transformed into a City of Light thanks to the thousands of small lamps the inhabitants place behind their windows. The festival, initially dedicated to Mary, has lost its religious dimension and is today firmly rooted in the life of the City. This year's celebration, expected to last four days, will illuminate the banks of the Rhone, the Saône and the traboules. Not to be missed: works of art disseminated in the whole town.
