Café du Bout du Monde: an expat rendez-vous in Lyon Print

Image  The Bout du Monde is on the Croix-Rousse. A tea lounge, a restaurant, a bar and a high-speed internet cafe all in one, this café makes one want to put down one's bags and rest for a while, or end the work day here in tranquillity.

An Australian bar, with Moroccan style tables and a French ceiling: the owners have traversed the world and it shows.  Huddled in soft sofas, one can sip a variety of voyage flavoured teas, juice made from fruits from the neighbouring market or exotic cocktails when the ambience becomes more aperitif.

The colourful menu varies during different times of the day and on different days: bruschettes, salads and baked potatoes on weekdays, exotic dishes on Saturday. Sunday, is « brunch » day, a real « English Breakfast » to be enjoyed between 9am and 3pm whilst reading the international press. And because the cafe is never short of ideas, it becomes a jazz club every Friday evening with, more precisely, a crossover program.
