This little corner of paradise has been shaped over time, and alternates between deep valleys and soft recesses. The Genevois Haut-Savoyard offers an ideal landscape for mountain biking. Full of picturesque market towns, stunning views and turbulent mountain streams, our favourite trails are:
- Downhill ATB in the Vallée Verte: it's fun!
You have 3 sensational hours to enjoy the banks of the Menoge in the heart of the Vallée Verte. Leave from the plateau des Moises (Habère-Poche) and experience a challenging descent to Saint-André-de-Boëge. It's a stimulating and invigorating experience along the water and under the shade of the trees. The return trip by shuttle is a lot more relaxing.
Price (ATB + helmet + shuttle): adult €17, child €13 (from 11 years).

- The Flérier loop: on the elves trail
This 4.5km trip is easy and has no change in altitude! The paths are flat and there are a few stretches of tarred road which run into undergrowth, a home to elves (or a funny wooden sculpture of them), before leading on to the village of Flérier. Here you will experience the history of a small, yet most beautiful hamlet and its 13th century Gothic-style chapel. And don't miss Flérier Lake, a beaver paradise.

- Le Massif des Brasses: to each his own track
If you are fearlessly seeking thrills or simply looking for a quiet hike, the choice of trips from the plateau de Plaine-Joux satisfies everyone's needs. Routes to discover in an idyllic location!
- The Pesse trail: Mont-Blanc and other unusual and interesting things
This is an 8.5km athletic course, with a 370m rise in altitude and a final stop at 1290m. There are splendid views over the Massif du Mont-Blanc, the Plaine-Joux pastures and peaks all around. This hike is full of surprises, such as stone walls and peat bogs. These areas of stagnant water are low in oxygen, and it therefore causes the plants to decompose very slowly, allowing for a remarkable ecosystem (which in the past was used as fodder). Do not miss these water bodies, before they disappear for good!
Good to know: the plateau de Plaine-Joux is an ideal place to catch your breath and quench your thirst. Visit the bar-restaurant l'Alpage (open year round, closed on Tuesdays in off-season).

Detailed itineraries on the Flérier route and the Pesse trail:
Flérier route:
Log book: Leave from Pont de la Glière (in front of the tourism office). Take the bridge and join the path on the left that heads towards the undergrowth (sculpture). At the footbridge, continue straight until the crossing. Take a right until Flérier Lake, and follow the lake until the road. Take a left, go a few meters and take a right to join the path beside the fish-farm. To spot beavers, go to the end of the path (no exit). Otherwise, go up the small steep path on the right and along the farm to join the road again. At the crossroads, take a right and head towards the village. For the return trip, take the road to the right of the washhouse, and follow it until the forest. At the entrance to the undergrowth, turn right, cross the footpath, take a left, follow the edge of the Foron and come back to the point of departure.
Pesse trail:
Log book: Leave from the Tourism Office in Viuz-en-Sallaz for Bogève. Take a right in the direction of "Plateau de Plaine-Joux." Park at the furthest ski hall. From the parking, take the D190b for a little over 1km in the direction of Bogève. Instead of the road on the left towards Sornei and Bouttecul, go another 250m and take the trail on the left (at the bend). From here, follow the markers for the ATB Pesse trail. After the forest, there's a peat bog down below with the Mont-Blanc in the background. Take a right, and 200m further go into the forest on a narrower path. After the forest, join the trail again (on the left). There are spectacular views of high pastures, the Jura, Voirons and Salève. The path passes by the Pagnoud Barns (take a left at the first buildings). At the fork of the Pesse cottages, go left and then take the road to the right, heading towards the Bouttecul house. Cross a fence and then take a path towards the right. Then enter the forest (on the left) and go down. After the forest, there are views of the Plaine-Joux high pastures and Miribel peak. Follow the path on the right and stay on the side until the sign « Plaine-Joux- 50 mns ». Cross the road and follow the path behind the Prés Chevriers houses. At the cross, go down the path to the left. You'll see a new peat bog overrun by « trolls ». (little yellow flowers) in the warmer months. Cross the road, and take the path on the right through the forest until the parking.
