Musée Paysan: travel through time

Print

ImageDive into the history of Haute-Savoie: the Paysalp Eco-museum allows you to discover the ways of life in the olden days through several sites. Besides the reconstruction of a classroom from the 1930s, the Musée Paysan in Viuz-en-Sallaz bears witness to the ingenuity of the men and women who lived in the mountains two centuries ago.

A visit to a mountain chalet referred to as «pèle» in the local dialect will unveil the private life of the Savoyard peasant. You will learn how the roblochon or the tomme are made, and will be able to visit the Prieuré de Peillonnex, the cultural shrine mixing roman and baroque art. Also look in on the Paysalp animation programme, in particular the «virées légendaires», 3-hour circuits with groups where actor-guides in costumes of the period offer a voyage through legend and reality.

Musée Paysan in Viuz-en-Sallaz. Open daily from 2 pm to 6 pm in July and August
