Maison des Parcs et de la Montagne opens September 26th Print

ImageChambery brings together Mountain and City, dedicating areas of land to natural heritage. On the ground floor of a historical building, a 400m2 multimedia complex showcases the riches of the natural areas around Chambery. Among them are the two Regional Nature Reserves of the Bauges and Chartreuse Mountains, the Vanoise National Park, and the Bourget Lake Territory, the biggest natural alpine lake in France. A reference to the pioneers, the complex also introduces the first historic National Park – Yellowstone founded in 1872 in the US - as well as Guadeloupe, Triglav in Slovenia and Skaftafell in Iceland. It's an interactive discovery, and through quizzes, photos, films and games, you are bound to admire these natural areas, appreciate the parks' missions and recognize the sounds and smells of the mountains. It's a playful approach to deep reflection on sustainable development.
