There are secrets that old stones know how to keep. At the Chateau of Faucigny, the dramatised tours that take place during the summer pull you into a saga of the Middle Ages. Children in knightly attire go in quest of treasure, under the benevolent care of their guide, transformed for the occasion into an alchemist. A trail of about an hour's duration which, of course, will enchant the children, but their parents as well! However, don't expect to see the entire castle, for it lies in ruins, but its true splendour shines through the significant restoration which has taken place. Constructed in the middle of the11th century by the Faucigny family, the castle was obviously subjected to the outrages of time and weather. We can nevertheless admire the Tower Gate, the dungeon, the stateroom and of course the fortifications. Lovers of history will also have food for thought, since a historical tour is organized each Friday. If, however, you are someone who enjoys travelling alone, the site stays open and you are free to follow along the paths created by archaeologists who narrate the history of the castle in detail. At the summit, you will find a map and a sumptuous lookout over the entire valley of l'Arve. From there, it will be easy for you to plunge into the tale of Bluebeard to shout this famous tirade: « Sister, my sister Anne, don't you see anything coming?»
