Print
ImageSince 1813, in addition to the New Year's Eve party, Geneva celebrates the end of the first Napoleonic Empire. Since 2004 the Old Town has enlivened its streets on the 31st with playful and cultural rallies, stands, shows, and thousands of candles at dusk.

Print
ImageAs is the tradition in December, Geneva will provide its small village of chalets set up in the midst of the commercial streets. The Christmas Market honours traditional as well as local handicrafts of European origin. Besides the Christmas parade and other activities to discover at wwsa, we offer the opportunity to make chocolate. Reserved for children and certainly also for those who remain young in spirit.

ImageA challenge with around 500 swimmers, some in disguise, who will cover the 125 meters of the Geneva harbour in waters between 4 and 6 degrees. A tradition that has aroused the same passion since 1934. There is nothing to prevent one from following the competition while comfortably ensconced in the surroundings of the Jardin Anglais.

Royaume, sangliers

Image403 years and not a wrinkle! The 'Escalade' Celebration sets off on good footing to celebrate the "Miraculous Delivery" of the night of the 11th and 12th of December 1602, which saw the troops of the Duke of Savoy being pushed back to the doors of Geneva. Concerts, historical parades, tours of Monetier's Passage, soup from 'la Mère Royaume' (the 'Royal Mother' of legend), wild boar roast and, a novelty this year, a raptor show (birds of prey demonstration); Geneva discovers a 17th century weekend.

Christmas in Carouge, throughout the month of December

Print
ImageIf there is a place where we like to party, it is at Carouge. In keeping with tradition, the little Sardinian town celebrates Christmas a little differently by promoting conviviality and originality and of course by mobilising practically all its population, who couldn't ask for anything better ! The picturesque streets of Vieux-Carouge will come to life four Sundays in a row, the 2th, 9th, 16th and 23th December, with the opening of 100 businesses. In addition, Friday the 14th, Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th are holidays with, as a strong point, the Gourmet Village and its mouth-watering universe. And as a further promotion, the traders will adjudge, as a competition, a challenge: who can create the most beautiful decoration. Decorations can be found in equal profusion in the streets of Carouge, with garlands of lights lining the18th corniches, in the tall pine trees decorated by the children of Carouge and with a Milky way, created by a series of big burning stars suspended on the lanterns of the street lights. So, ready to traverse the Arve?
