Visit Carouge, along the water: 09.06 Print

ImageCarouge, a tale of two rivers, invites wandering and revelations. The Drize, a small but tumultuous stream, runs for eight kilometers from its source at the foot of the Salève, snaking between giant ash trees, oaks and poplars, before flinging itself into the Arve. Issuing forth from the Mont Blanc massif, the Arve carves sharp riverbanks before joining the Rhône 100 kilometers later. Two rivers, two personalities whose history has always been intimately associated with the life of Carouge, have created an exceptional verdant space ready to reveal its secrets and its resources of flora and fauna. During your stroll you will hear passionate accounts of the hydrologic history which fashioned the development of our Sardinian city, as well as the measures being taken to preserve this exceptional environment.
