Café des Négociants: Sardinian curiosity |
This is the restaurant which everybody in Geneva is talking about. Floor, iron work, zinc countertop, the old Carouge bistro has renovated itself stylishly: even the water bottles are designed. An excellent selection of wines, albeit accordingly priced, from which to choose - directly from the cellar (by going through the kitchen) with the help of a wine steward. The food dishes are as creative as their names. A place which never empties. To try out of both gastronomic and sociological curiosity. Contact and informations: |

La Maloca: Amazon in the heart of Carouge |
This industrial premises situated on the St-Julien road is not so easy to dig up. A flight of stairs leads you to the first floor and there, pushing open the door, the heat of South America embraces you.
Bar, restaurant, night club and even conference room at the same time, the «Maloca» is, to begin with, an association which allows Latin American communities to gather.

The Opéra Bouffe |
On an opera aria At lunch and dinner, refined seasonal cooking and afternoon tearoom with, as the restaurant's name suggests, a leitmotif of opera arias as musical background. Cherubs, mirrors and beautiful objects in a setting which can turn intimate when evening comes. A good address which we always recommend with pleasure.

Café du soleil: fondues and Malakoff's |
A typical Lyon style little tavern, very popular at lunch time with expatriates. Quite understandably so, as many international organizations are located nearby. Their fondue is said to be the nicest in Geneva, they also have local specialties like the Malakoff's, and nice salads and meats, which you can enjoy for a very reasonable price. A nice terrace that fills up very quickly in the summer (booking is more than recommended), pleasant service and friendly atmosphere: all the ingredients are there to make this cute little restaurant an excellent address.

Restaurant Lion d'Or: 300 years of indulgence |
This, the oldest restaurant in Carouge, doesn’t look 300 years old. A charming bistro-style room on the ground floor, a magnificent dining room with a vaulted stone ceiling and in summer, a wonderful verdant terrace within the very walls of Carouge. |
