Grand Hôtel Bella Tola & Saint-Luc: baroc charm at 1'652 m

Print
ImageBella Tola is the name of the peak that dominates St-Luc. It is also the name of a hotel, over a hundred years old, that is situated in the heart of Val d'Anniviers, directly facing the 4000. Initially a refuge for the travellers who were hosted by the local priest, this 19th century residence recently underwent a complete renovation that earned it the title of historic hotel of the year in 2001.

All the rooms are different, decorated in the baroque style and dotted with a multitude of artefacts gathered from second-hand shops by the lady of the house, Anne-Françoise Buchs-Favre. A romantic inspiration that is also present in the brand new SPA. There is a covered swimming pool with a view on Cervin and beauty care cabins, in a decor combining natural stones, fire and ice. A place of serenity to be discovered in the most snug of surroundings.

What to do in Saint-Luc:

Activities in St-Luc: Apart from the splendid view of the Alps' most famous peaks, St-Luc is also a starting-point for a thousand hikes: including the renowned Chemin des Planètes (Way of the Planets), the lighthouse of Bella-Tola, the 18th century mills or even the Chemin du Pain (Way of the Bread) (more information). And for the more sportive: mountain bike, horse rides, golf, fishing, treasure hunts and all winter sports. (see under http://www.sierre-anniviers.ch/)

You will like to know: the excavations at the hotel revealed the presence of a small 5000-year old treasure composed of jewellery and bronze items. It is kept today at the Musée National Suisse, as a testimony of ancient Roman roads in this region.
