Domaine de Chantelinotte: luxury within nature

Print

ImageChristian and Béatrice Eymery quit their jobs in communications in Grenoble to commune with nature. They have accomplished this by using straw, mud and sawdust to build their house. They use walls made of compressed straw, untreated virgin sheep wool for thermal and noise insulation of the under-roofing, oriental lime for the shower.  The «bio construction» is located, similarly, on an eco-site where organic polyculture farming and stockbreeding is also planned. An extraordinary place which the pair of former city folk, along with Maryline and Vincent Thévenin, enjoy helping the casual visitor to explore for a weekend or more.

Information: www.domainedechantelinotte.com, Domaine of Chantelinotte, Le Voirazier, near Romans. 180 euros for a weekend for two, arriving Saturday morning and including a tour of the site and the three art workshops (pottery, painting, sculpture). Meals at the host table and nights in a «bio construction».
