 They say that this residence was built in the 17th century at the request of the Monsieur de Grignan who hoped to improve the morals of the village by posting some men of the cloth there. Through the centuries, the house has had as many postings as owners.
Notably, it served as a tinning or canning factory for truffles before being bought by Madame Sourdive, Picasso's muse. Renovated afterwards by Madame de Bournet, it conquered Lord Southam, Canadian Ambassador at the time. Today, the residence has kept all its charm. It offers ten very cosy rooms, no restaurant but a tearoom where one can taste Italian chocolates or syrups made by the monks of the l'Abbaye d'Aiguebelle, very close to Grignan. A place that can only facilitate inspiration. The visitors' book reveals that certain writers have stayed in the house, attracted by the Festival de la Correspondance or the Nocturnes de Grignan, among them, Philippe and Françoise Labro, Bernard-Henry Lévy and the novelist Irène Frain.
