Grenoble Print

ImageCapital of the Alps and Olympic city in 1968, Grenoble benefits from its unique geographical location: the city stretches upto the junction of 3 massifs, the Vercors, the Belledonne range and the Chartreuse. Stendhal said of it: “at the end of each street, a mountain”. A city of modern technology with the Minatec center, a renowned university hub, it is also a city of art and history. The historic Center harbours more than one architectural and cultural treasure, including the Place Saint André or the Palais de Justice. A few vestiges of the Bastille fort and of the wall that used to surround Grenoble still remain and are accessible by cable car or, for the more courageous, by a staircase of almost 400 steps. From there, an extraordinary panorama of the city and its suburbs opens up.
