And what about a change of mountains? The Loire offers you infinite possibilities to ski in many different ways, as close to nature as possible.
First at the Loge Pass which reaches 1,260 m and offers cross country ski runs winding through the middle of firs and moors, snowshoe itineraries, as well as trips with sled dogs. And then, at the Chalmazel resort which unfolds its 9,000 hectares of ski terrain - Nordic skiing or ski runs - under the protection of the Marcilly-Talaru castle, an ancient building from the 13th. Century which dominates the foothills of the Monts du Forez. A resort which this year again has a surprise in store with the opening of a snowpark equipped with everything you need to have fun: big air, tables, spine, quarter, handrails, funbox, and BBQ zone to test one's skills. Regarding the Massif du Pilat, its high plateaus, fir forests and deep valleys offer a dream setting for three vast Nordic ski areas. Finally, push further north of the department via National Highway 7, sung about by Charles Trenet, to discover the Monts de la Madeleine at the entrance of the Roannais and the Auvergne border. A pretty plateau situated at 1,300 m where forests, meadows and ponds roll past, one by one. A little kingdom of family resorts. Then, let's go to the dry snow!
