Silk Market in Lyon: November 23-26

Print

ImageUnder the patronage of Nicolas Fafiotte – young and glamourous dressmaker for Miss (France) – and Shingai Tanaka, master of Japanee calligraphy, this second Silk Market event will take place from November 23 - 26 at the Lyon Palais du Commerce.

Cloth by the meter on the ground floor, and accessories on the first floor – patterned velvet stoles, neckties, shawls, and labelled silk square scarves; these silk manufacturers are selling 150,000 meters of silk at factory prices. A shopping experience that won't bore you, as the factory in question carries labels such as Bianchini-Férier, Malfroy Millon and Hugo Soie, among others. And if this were to be the year of your wedding or simply when you decide to redecorate your living room, you'll have the opportunity to exchange ideas with the designers and milliners at the event.

To add a little cultural touch to your end-of-year shopping experience, the «Regard sud»  association offers a whole series of events that celebrates silk and fabric from October 24 to December 31, 2006. Different artists from Lyon and around will be reunited during painting and sculpture exhibits, debates and conferences, and it will provide the opportunity to dive into the beautiful history that has linked Lyon to silk for centuries.
