Vélo'V j'adore…: a smooth ride in Lyon

Print

«La petite reine» invades the streets of ancient Gaul's capital, bringing joy to Lyon's locals and visitors. In fact, there are more than 2,000 bicycles (with 4,000 expected by 2007) scattered throughout the city and available for rent for a modest price (with a rental card).

ImageThe first thirty minutes are free. And there are just as many reasons to immediately jump onto one of these smooth mobile carriers, stationed at parking lots in the city's four corners. Or, if you feel like (re)discovering the city, «Lyon-style rickshaws» (don't worry, drivers use an electric motor to help them pedal!) are certainly the most original way to ride through the city's pedestrian centre, as you enjoy the panoramic view through the glass covering. These initiatives were recently rewarded the Palme d'Or for modes of smooth transport in France.
