 In 1836, Georges Hoffherr, an Alsatian and a brewer by trade, founded the Brasserie that bears his name and has since become an institution.
A hall as large as a station that breathes Art Deco with its gigantic one piece ceiling, its chandeliers, its Guillermin frescoes and red moleskin benches and has been witness to the likes of Lamartine, Verlaine, the Lumiere brothers, Mistinguett and Jacques Brel passing through it. Despite its unenviable location next to the Gare de Perrache, the place remains a must, due to its charming and slightly old-fashioned ambiance, the brewery dishes, the "lyonnaiseries" both invigorating and respectable, Saturday evening Caf'conces like in the good old days and beer brewed on the premises.
