Journey to Hungary: The Danube and Tokay wines |
|
|
From the 8th to the 15th of June 2008, our columnist, Lawrence Turrel, will take you to the banks of the Danube and into the Hungarian vineyards. He will help you discover the sweet Tokay wines, the nectar of kings, whose grape - the Furmint - comes from an ancient volcanic region in northeastern Hungary. He will also take you to the Eger vineyard, which produces the famous « sang de taureau », a wine that used to be exported to the former USSR and is now gaining recognition in the international market. A nice opening act before the summer!
